spinning: burn it down by avenged sevenfold.

I swear, I was all fired up like a godamn trigger waiting to ignite when the news hit. To say I'm excited is a (major) understatement. I was in a state of convulsive frenzy when I heard they were coming for pete's sake!! I'm giving up The Cure and Funeral For A Friend. Only for THEM:

If you stay, I don't need heaven.

spinning: love song requiem by trading yesterday.

Before you, my life was like a moonless night. Very dark, but there were stars- points of light and reason.. And then you shot across my sky like a meteor. Suddenly everything was on fire; there was brilliancy, there was beauty. When you were gone, when the meteor had fallen over the horizon, everything went black. Nothing had changed, but my eyes were blinded by the light. I couldn't see the stars anymore. And there was no more reason for anything.

Anberlin and Copeland Acoustic Set, 4th June '07, Home Club.

The queue was like a mile long (with many familiar faces from the gig the night before) when we arrived, and it was ironic how no one noticed that the guys of Anberlin were chilling just outside the club; two arms' length beside the freaking queue! I walked up to them and striked up a conversation, acting casual as shit even though my feelings betrayed otherwise.

Apparently, Stephen recognized me from the night before and gave me a hug, claiming the letter I wrote him was mind-blowing and he's going to keep it forever and ever haha. By then people slowly realized who they were and started flocking in our direction for photos.

It was a very cozy turn-out that night, and Anberlin's acoustic renditions of A Day Late, Paperthin Hymn, Adelaide, Inevitable, Radiohead's Creep and my favourite, their cover of Love Song by The Cure, were exceptionally resplendent.

Their cover of Love Song by The Cure. :)

Paperthin Hymn. You could tell this was a crowd favourite hee.

Copeland's acoustic set was also quietly brilliant:

The crowd was lulled into sweet silence when Aaron sang. I don't know, his vocals just sends you into a dream world that transcends all boundaries. It has this innate ability to strip you down to your barest soul and then set it alight with passion and warmth.

He has this indescribable hold over me when he sings; like he'd sprinkled golden magical stardust on me or something.

As silly as it may sound, I teared when they performed Love Affair. Aaron brought out the soft sadness the lyrics haboured and sang it so beautifully. The lights, the music, his voice, it all felt so surreal.

"If it's not too late for Coffee I'll be at your place in ten, we'll hit that all night diner and then we'll see.."

Next best thing, I got to meet both bands. :)

Nathan from Anberlin.

Christian from Anberlin. God I love this guy.

Wow they sure like the peace sign alot.

Joey from Anberlin.

Sorry girls haha.

Haha yes there was alot of love among both bands.

Aaron from Copeland.

Hello Aaron, this shot of you is priceless. It REIGNS over all other myspace photos of yourself. :)))

Steve from Copeland.

with the guys of Anberlin.

I wanted him to do a video blog like the band usually do, (www.myspace.com/anberlin) but he wanted me to do it with him! so it started with me asking, "you and me??" Stephen thinks I don't know what niece means. loll. Okay sorry I was so shy, inarticulate, incoherent etc. Wait, what's that? Oh yes, starstruck. :)

ANBERLIN & COPELAND Showcase@ The Glass Pavilion, Far East Square, 3rd June 07.

COPELAND:

Copeland's set was sensational, haunting, timeless, and I was thankful for every minute that I was there then. It's heartbreaking yet so soothing to finally see/hear Aaron Marsh sing the words that have helped me through so many sleepless nights and tired sighs. When he sang, I couldn't comprehend the surge of emotions his voice had evoked in me. And I didn't want to, for they washed over me in a strangely beautiful amalgamation of feelings of melancholy, loneliness, longing, happiness, comfort and consolation.

Copeland's Control Freak. (Yes front row!) :)

ANBERLIN:

Anberlin, on the other hand, whipped up a torrential moshing storm when Stephen Christian belted out their 1st song, A Whisper and A Clamour. You could see how pleasantly surprised the band was at our fervent enthusiasm, which in turn infected them with wilder energy on stage. Every note was played to perfect precision by the two guitarists -Deon & Christian- coupled with ear-deafening pounding by (supposedly hot) drummer Nathan.

The crowd completely lost it when they played Godspeed. Everybody was pushing everybody in every direction possible, some girl snapped my necklace, and I lost my phone in that sea of crazy people! But that's okay cause some kind soul recovered it for me after the gig. All in all though, the guys truly gave a kick-ass performance!

You Have My Attention.

I got to meet Aaron Marsh! You would think the popularity of his status as an artist would get to him, but he's just so nice and humble and down-to-earth. That goes for Anberlin's Stephen as well. I penned down something for him.(Stephen) It wasn't some crazy fanmail, I talked about life, love, hope. And I managed to pass it to him. :)

I shall continue and blog about their secret show tomorrow! :D
