I feel hollow now that the World Cup has come to an end. =(

Fourth WORLD CUP victory for ITALY.

I know I was initially rooting for them, but I`m not sure if they deserved it because if you had watched the game, the French clearly proved to be the better team. Their attacks were powerful, strong and swift. But we still have to give credit for Italy`s solid defense. Plus Buffon`s performance was incredible.

The crucial highlight of the game was when Materazzi grabbed Zidane(Zizou)`s jersey for a few seconds, and after exchanging words, Zidane turned around and head-butted him right straight in the middle of his chest! And that can only mean one thing. RED CARD. It was quite shocking, because I heard he`s known for his poise and elegance when he plays and also in person.

This incident probably cost France to lose, although I thought that wasn`t the greatest tragedy. The most unforgivable shame was how Zidane ended his stellar career with such a brutal act of fury when it didn`t have to be that way. He could have been hoisting the World Cup up in the air and relishing the glory instead of Cannavaro if not for that moment of impulsive rashness. He could have had the best retirement, but it was not to be.

I was frustrated with the Italians, because now (2nd-half) that Henry (why did Domenech take him out anyway?) and Zidane were gone, it`s time for them to up their game and dazzle the crowd with a grand finish or something. They were supposed to CHIONG. But they didn`t. They just went into a shell of mediocrity and stifled virtually all the life out of the game urgh! They were lucky to have conceded all five penalties, and with Trezeguet (do you know he used to play for Italy?) missing one for France. Still, it was no way to win a World Cup.
