a dose of cosmology.

Many of you who know me will probably know for a fact that I was(still am) obsessed with Jon Jonsson since aeons ago; before he was crowned America's most gorgeous male model, before he came to S'pore and whipped up such a storm, before he had hordes of fans mobbing him everywhere he go, before he hosted on MTV wearing only a pair of yummy briefs, before he appeared on channel's 5 miss.s'pore universe or villa wellness.. well you get my point.

I supported him since Day 1 when ManHunt premiered, when everyone was rooting for hotties like tate, john, hunter blah. He was the only one who gripped me, he wasn't superficial like the rest, you know? He had depth and class and so much more other amazing qualities.

Well joe, what do you know? he is indeed deeper than he looks. my boy is majoring in astrophysics and I've just re-read his latest blog entry(erm april 21st 05 lol) and can't help but comment on what he wrote.

My Reply:
HELLO THERE JON. your latest post seems to be kinda old. you really should update. everyone misses you so damn much. anyway, i can't believe you're into cosmology!

I was dead set on studying it in the future but my dad protested too vehemently. Anyhow, i'm so relieved that some deep intellect does lie behind that pretty face of yours.

it's such a mess when you mix philosophy and cosmology together don't you think? that day i sat up the whole night. just thinking. of us human beings, then the vast sky as i look out the window, then earth, space, sun, stars, the milky way galaxy and the universe which houses billions of other galaxies and finally marvelled at how utterly small we all are- that revelation is always so mindblowing.

and then i thought about the life cycle of a star, from stellar nebula to massive star to red supergiant to supernova and then when it finally collapses on itself to form a black hole due to gravitational pull/imbalance. and that's exactly how the universe was formed-a singularity.

It's funny to think that we are all made of star stuff. Every atom in our bodies was created either in the nuclear furnace of a star or in the cataclysmic explosion of a supernovas.

Yes i think i'm quite well-informed about the origin of the universe, but what about it's eventual fate? will it perish in the big crunch or the big freeze?

but then again, we would have to worry about the sun first since it will expand after a few billion years and engulf our planet earth. Also around the same time, our nearest galactic neighbour, Andromeda, will start to crash into our own galaxy, the Milky Way. To think life on Earth must escape into space if it is to survive.. interesting isn't it?

It's amazing how many questions can be triggered off just by looking up at the sky. Oh anyway, i just realized its Prof.Stephen Hawking's 64th birthday today! =D

I've said my piece. It'll be neat if you could comment back. take care.
